Why Pakistani students choose Australia

Globally ranked degrees

Several Australian universities sit in the world’s top 100, and Australian qualifications are recognised by employers worldwide.

Post-study work rights

Eligible graduates can apply for the Temporary Graduate visa (subclass 485) to live and work in Australia after finishing their degree — with longer stays available for graduates of regional campuses.

Work while you study

Student visa holders can work a capped number of hours during term time and more during breaks, helping with living costs.

A safe, multicultural home

Several Australian universities sit in the world’s top 100, and Australian qualifications are recognised by employers worldwide.

Quality of life

Australian cities consistently rank among the world’s most liveable — clean, safe and organised.

Consider carefully

Vocational (VET/TAFE)
Course-specific — ask your counsellor

Most institutions also accept PTE Academic and, increasingly, other approved tests. Exact requirements vary by university and course — we confirm yours before you apply.

In your first session we convert all of this into a single, realistic PKR figure for your family — tuition, living, insurance, visa and travel — so you decide with full information.

Tuition
Indicative annual tuition: AUD 16,000–36,000 for most bachelor and master programmes, depending on university and field. l
Living
For your visa, the Department of Home Affairs currently requires evidence of AUD 29,710 for twelve months of living costs (single student), in addition to first-year tuition and travel costs. Adding a spouse or child increases the requirement. (Last verified: Late-2026 — always confirmed against the official figure at your application date.)
Other
Overseas Student Health Cover (OSHC) is mandatory for the length of your visa — approximately AUD 630–900 per year for a single student, depending on the provider you select. Visa application charge: AUD 2,500.

Most Australian universities offer merit scholarships for international students — commonly 10% to 30% of tuition, awarded on academic results at the time of offer. Some institutions offer regional or destination scholarships for campuses outside the largest cities. Government options such as the Australia Awards operate in selected cycles. OnePoint identifies every scholarship you are eligible for as part of your application — we never charge extra for scholarship support.

Main intakes: February and July, with November available at some institutions. Work backwards from your intake: applications 4–6 months ahead, English test before that, and visa documentation 3–4 months before travel. The ideal starting point is 8–12 months out — but speak to us regardless; later timelines are often workable.

* Timelines vary by institution and personal circumstances; your counsellor will build your personal timeline.

Australia’s Student visa (subclass 500) requires a Confirmation of Enrolment, evidence of financial capacity, English proficiency, health insurance and — centrally — the Genuine Student (GS) requirement, in which the Department assesses whether your study plan makes sense for your background and goals. This is where careful preparation matters most: your academic history, finances and stated intentions must tell one consistent, truthful story. OnePoint’s role is documentation guidance and preparation — we help you present your genuine circumstances accurately and completely. No consultancy can guarantee a visa decision, and you should be cautious of any that claims to.

Australia FAQs

Can I study in Australia without IELTS?

Sometimes. Some universities accept PTE, Duolingo or other approved tests, and limited English-waiver routes exist. Realistically, most Pakistani applicants need a test — our preparation classes can get you there.

You must evidence first-year tuition plus AUD 29,710 living costs plus travel, with funds that are genuine, documented and explainable. We prepare this evidence with you carefully — it is the most common refusal area. (Last verified: July 2026.)

Typically your parents, legal guardian or spouse. The source of funds must be documented and legitimate.

A set of questions in your visa application assessing whether you are a genuine student. We prepare you thoroughly — and truthfully.

Many students can include dependants, with higher financial requirements. Ask your counsellor about your situation.

Because it is our home base. Our directors and staff live and work there, our partner universities include Tasmanian institutions minutes from our office, and our advice reflects current onshore reality — not last year’s blog posts.
